In September 2008, Melissa co-founded The Kindness Project – an organization dedicated to giving small gifts to people of all ages and walks of life.
The Kindness Project team has written cards to those who have needed encouragement during illness, fire, and flood. They have given gifts of massages, flowers, and food as well as helped people move, bought and wrapped Christmas gifts, and given scholarships to teens for dance lessons and fashion modeling.
The need for kindness comes in many forms
Over the years, The Kindness Project team has bought and distributed toothbrushes, toiletries, socks, undies, food, movie tickets, board games, toys, flashlights, books, reading glasses, pet food, birthday cakes, military care packages, art and school supplies, shoes, sleeping bags, and more! Their kindnesses have touched all corners of the world: Bolivia, Ghana, Mexico, Ecuador, El Salvador, Palestine, Dafur, Chad, and Bangladesh as well as most states in the USA including Sebastopol, California where they are based.
One of their favorite times of the year is Christmas when they buy toys and clothing for immigrant families and sing We Wish You A Merry Christmas to the shopkeepers in Sebastopol.
Spreading hope and joy, the six members of The Kindness Project meet quarterly to select recipients for their random acts of kindness. If you would like to contribute or suggest a recipient for consideration, please fill out the form below.
