What We Do
We teach a brain-based approach to getting things done
What we do, when we do it and how we get it done are controlled by the executive functions of the brain. Do you procrastinate? Is it hard to stay focused? Can you plan and prioritize your day (and stick with that plan in the face of a million interruptions)?
Our approach to time management, organization and planning is entirely brain-based. In our courses, you understand how your brain is wired and how to work with your strengths – and weaknesses. Together, we train your brain to use the visual tools/strategies that will help you reach your goals.
Every class includes a component around mindfulness.
How are your brain skills?
Does your organization have ESL employees?
We are also committed to making this approach accessible and understandable to non-native English speakers. Most recently, we have worked with Adelante Mujeres in Forest Grove (OR) and the Multilingual Department with the Beaverton School District. Their staff work with 109 different languages in the school district!
“Adelante Mujeres was looking for a class on time management, and we contracted with Mary for its delivery. The content and facilitation were outstanding, meaningful, and impactful for our first cohort of staff members, most of whom are native Spanish speakers with English as a second language at different levels. The materials Mary presented were friendly to ESL speakers, and her pace and facilitation made it easy for our staff to capture and internalize the knowledge delivered in the class. The results were fantastic. Therefore, we have continued to work with Mary to deliver more time management classes. We have had three cohorts so far and plan to continue working with Mary as our organization grows into the future.”
Melany Vergara, Professional Development Manager at Adelante Mujeres (Dec 2023)

This class was one of the most interesting, relevant and well-presented classes I have attended in a very long time. I loved the slides, the handout, the information presented throughout the class and Mary’s willingness to share examples of her own life experience to keep it funny and help the listener connect. I was hooked!

Success Stories
“I recently had the pleasure of attending a training by Mary Ellen on Brain-based Time Management. What was uniquely different about this training was her exceptional expertise on linking time management with the executive brain functions. Her ability to link science to practical strategies made the difference and is why I will use the strategies she provided. I would highly recommend any organization looking to provide an outstanding and practical training on time management to reach out to her.”
Laura Blacklock, Court Educator | Washington Courts Administrative Office (June 2024)
The course definitely covered some of my problem areas. While the practical and tactical solutions are simple, Mary Ellen did a great job of connecting efficiency problems to their causes and solutions with relevant scientific research.

Training & Equity Coordinator, Home ForwardI’m a small business owner who, like so many others, gets sidetracked away from big goals by minor demands and distractions. I took the Time Management class last week and began implementing the suggestions the next morning. Already I have 2 new contracts signed and feel like I’m running my business as opposed to my business running me.

Owner, Waterlink WebWe are a small municipality with a large work load that leaves us feeling overwhelmed, so it’s important to use our time spent on projects as efficiently as possible. We appreciated Mary’s approach to helping us understand how our brains process time and then giving us the tools to help keep our brains disciplined and focused. The time cubes were one of the tools that she told us about and we use them daily to help us not get lost in our “digital canyons” and to be more efficient with our time. Great training!

Assistant Public Works Director, City of TillamookMary Ellen Baker created a customized time management training for my non-profit sales and support team. She worked diligently to create a training that would teach my team the skills they needed. The training was perfect! Though the training was in late 2017, many of my team members are still utilizing the techniques she taught us. I think my team is more efficient and organized overall since taking her training.
